What exactly is the Scheme, and for whom is it intended?
As per the provisions of Section 41 AA of the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, the Scheme is approved as per the orders dated 17.08.2006 and 15.04.2009 in Writ Petition (PIL) No. 3132 / 2004 of the Hon'ble High Court, Bombay.

The charity patient scheme is available for the indigent patients (Tehsildar certified gross annual income is less than Rs.1,80,000/-) and weaker section patients (patient whose gross annual income is less than Rs.3,60,000/-) categories.

Note : The income limit of the indigent and weaker sections patients will be applicable as revised by the government from time to time
In which hospital is this scheme available?
A public charitable trust registered under the provisions of the Maharashtra Publics Trusts Act, 1950 (M.P.T. Act) which are running charitable hospital, including nursing home or maternity home, dispensaries or any other center for medical relief and whose annual expenditure exceeds Rs.5 lakhs are “State-aided public trusts” under Clause 4 of Section 41A A. The list of said hospitals is available on the website under the directory “Hospitals list”.
What documents are required to avail the benefits of this scheme?

Which treatments are covered under this scheme?
All treatments covered under registered charitable hospitals are covered under this scheme.
What is the treatment limit amount under the scheme?
This scheme does not have upper limit on the treatment amount. Treatment is free of cost for indigent patients and for weaker section patients, the treatment is provided at prescribed concession rates.
Is it necessary to pay the deposit amount at the time of admission to the hospital under the said scheme?
The indigent and weaker section patients are not required to pay any amount at the time of admission to the hospital to avail the benefits under the scheme. However, the weaker section has to pay the Stipulated amount post treatment.
If the necessary medicines / items are not available in the hospital during the treatment, will they have to be procured from outside?
No
Is there any difference in quality of treatment provided under the indigent patient fund scheme and the general patients treated in charitable hospital?
There will be no difference in treatment or quality of treatment.
If the same patient is treated once under the said scheme, can the same patient be treated under the scheme for another disease?
Yes
Can an eligible patient get treatment under the scheme in a charitable hospital for the remainder of his treatment if he is undergoing treatment in a hospital other than a charitable hospital?
Yes
